Pyrography means “writing with fire” and is the art of decorating wood with burn marks. Pyrography is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. Pyrography has been practiced by a number of cultures including the Egyptians and some African tribes since the dawn of recorded time. Pyrography is also a traditional folk art in many European countries, including Romania, Hungary, as well as countries such as Argentina in South America.
This piece was created using a heat pen resulting in a range of natural tones and shades. Subtle effects create this beautiful bouquet of peonies with strong dark strokes creating a bold and dramatic design. After the wood was burnt, it was scrolled to create the delicate cuts of the flowers and stems. The bouquet comes with a hook and is ready to hang on your wall.
