Description:
Sequoia trees make up some of the largest and oldest trees on the planet. The sequoia is a valuable timber tree in the forests of California. The sequoia is strong and durable, resists decay, and has a soft outer bark and an interior softwood and hardwood core.
During a trip to California, BAC purchased seeds and planted them in his Hunterdon County New Jersey garden. Despite years of time, patience and diligence, BACs beloved sequoia succumbed for unknown reasons. Not all was lost with his attempt to establish a West Coast redwood in the Northeast - his sequoia is now a truly magnificent bowl.
The dish is a mixture of lightwood with complementary darker swirls, rings and patches. The vessel was craved from the natural design of the roots that grafted themselves together to create an interwoven effect. When looked at from above, the bowl almost looks like a left foot. A notch left by a branch was left intact. This one-of-a-kind object dart can be used for potpourri or wrapped candy or a magnificent accent piece.
